The Name: "Double PASS"
The name 'double pass', also known as 'give and go' or
'one-two', is a well known term in the world of sports. It
is a key aspect of many team sports such as football,
basketball, hockey, etc. and symbolises the ‘teamwork’
needed in order to progress (on the field or beside it). A
double pass means passing to teammate and receiving a return
pass further down the field / court. Te main goal is to
‘gain’ terrain the most efficient and effective way
possible, through teamwork. In order to achieve a successful
“double pass”, certain requirements need to be fulfilled:
- Team spirit: the spirit of a group
that makes the members want the group to succeed, the
aspect that makes the ‘whole’ more than the sum of the
individuals
- Vista: insight in the game, the
different participants need to be able to anticipate
each others moves and act accordingly
- Tactics: the double pass is a basic
tactic in group sports; it is a tactic often used thanks
to the easy execution and big advantages it can create;
such standard tactics offer participants the necessary
baggage to fall back on in difficult situations
- Timing: perfect timing is decisive
for the quality of execution; a good line and the right
speed are crucial for a good execution
Luck or fate, these are the same factors that are
decisive for our activities at Double PASS.
