Double PASS at EPFL workshop in Köln
During an inspiring workshop on youth development in
professional football clubs, organized by EPFL (Association
of European Professional Football Leagues) and DFL (Deutsche
Fußball Liga GmbH), Foot PASS was presented as a ‘best
practice’ in the field of certification. “The quality
evaluation and certification of youth academy’s for our
Bundesliga clubs has contributed a lot in just a short
time”, commented Holger Hieronymus, sport technical manager
of the German Football Association. This was confirmed by
Christoph Henkel, head of the youth academy of hosts FC
Köln, who stated that Foot PASS at a minimum instigates
clubs to think and rethink their approach to youth. “All
aspects that are directly or indirectly linked to
recruitment, formation and flow-through of talented players
is ‘brought in to chart’ in an organized and structured
manner”, according to Henkel. Furthermore, the professional
approach and neutral position of Foot PASS were praised,
both being crucial as the German Football Association
distributes the UEFA Solidarity fund based on these audits.
